Why do you want to make a pendrive bootable? and why not? It's cumbersome to carry our old and traditional devices everywhere. These days we find difficulties carrying CDs or DVDs with us because as we have USB drives with huge capacities to store data and carry anywhere, therefore we expect to do all computing work with less efforts in search of more ease today we are going to learn how to make USB / Pen Drive Bootable without using any software throughDiskpart command. Please follow the steps implicitly and it's advisable not to panic if something goes wrong, because we learn when we try and we are going to learn an interesting thing.
STEPS TO MAKE PEN DRIVE BOOTABLE:
Step#1: Plug in the USB drive in the system then go to command prompt throughRun and type cmd when this box appears then type diskpart and hit enter.
Step#2: Type list disk and check the availability of your Pendrive in the system as I inserted 8 GB Pendrive NOTE: Minimum 4 GB pendrive is required to make a pendrive bootable.
Step#3: Type select disk 1 and type clean then create partition primary. Caution : if you have added multiple hard disks then you have to take care the disk number in this case it may not be disk 1
Step#4: We need to select partition in which we are going to store booting files select partition 1.
Step#5: Partition 1 is selected, type format fs=ntfs It's going to take a bit long time.
If you want you can format with fat32 as well that makes no difference.
Step#6: Type active and assign and finally type exit
Step#7: Our Pendrive is good to go, Insert a DVD of Windows7 in the DVD Rom and copy Windows7 files in the Pendrive. The Pendrive is bootable now.
Let's learn how to boot from the Pendrive. Restart your computer and to go BIOS setting and search and find first boot device and select your pendrive as a first boot device save the setting with F10, exit and restart your computer as soon as you restart the windows will start booting from the USB drive.
